After years of working hard and perfecting her style, Bunbury Bowling Club member Anne Blechynden has become the best of the best.
Blechynden clinched the Country Week Women’s Singles Championship at Osborne Park Bowling Club last month.
The bowler found herself 11-1 down against Busselton's Jennie Bruce midway through the final.
Blechynden then came from behind to win 21-17 and bring the trophy back to Bunbury.
Having competed in Country Week for the past 16 years, Blechynden was delighted with her performance in this year’s competition.
“If you’re positive about something, then you have got to remain positive and believe you can do well,” she said.
“Bowls is a great confidence game – If your confidence is up then things seem to go quite smoothly most of the time.
“Winning the Country Week Singles’ event is quite a big thing for a country bowler.”
The 66-year-old regularly plays Pennants bowls, held over 14 weeks from October to March.
Pennants features all nine clubs from the South West.
Blechynden said bowls was a fun and relaxing activity for anyone of any age.
“The fellowship of having everyone together is the main thing and it’s open to everyone,” she said.
“It’s fairly easy to learn, there is a lot of help from the club for people who want to learn.”
Blechynden first played the game 25 years ago after meeting her husband and fellow Bunbury Bowling Club member Evan.
