Perth historical fiction author Linda J Bettenay will be the guest speaker at a Mothers’ Day High Tea event in Burekup on Saturday, May 12.
Bettenay has published three novels based on true WA stories, including her latest release The Apple Core Wars.
She will speak about the women that have inspired her work and how she weaves historical facts into her fiction.
The event will be hosted by the Country Women’s Association River Valley Belles.
Belles president Kahlia Murray said the group was thrilled to have the author speak at the event.
“Linda is a gifted storyteller and also an inspirational and entertaining speaker,” she said.
Mrs Murray said it would be the River Valley Belles’ first major social event since it formed in May last year.
“Most of the ladies in our group are mothers so we are really excited to host this high tea that we hope mothers of all ages will enjoy,” she said.
Proceeds from the event will support the Associated Country Women of the World, an organisation which connects rural and non-rural women and their communities through advocacy, partnership, sharing knowledge and local activities.
Tickets to the event are $25 and include a glass of champagne on arrival and a gift.
Tickets are on sale until Friday May 4 and are available by calling Dannielle Read on 0428 281 114 or via the River Valley Belles Facebook page.
The event will be held at 11am at Burekup Country Club.
