The Salvation Army Bunbury Corps has come up with a fresh idea to help people in the community.
The Salvos have set up a ‘Humble Jumble’ Thrift Shop on Timperley Road, South Bunbury.
Housed within one storage unit, the shop features clothing items, kitchen ware, electrical goods, and nic-nacs.
Corps Officers Mark and Zoe Schatz opened the store on Monday, April 30.
Mr Schatz said they wanted the store to have a “classic” op-shop look and feel.
He said funds raised from the shop will remain in Bunbury.
“It’s a place for those who are struggling to grab something and it’s also for those who just love the hunt for a bargain,” he said.
“This is a shop designed for the community to help raise funds for people in Bunbury.
“We know times are tough, we know people struggle, and so this is a way of helping out by keeping the costs right down.”
The shop currently employs eight volunteers, while the network currently features 40 volunteers overall.
They said, should the shop continue its success, they would expand the shop’s premises and add more volunteers.
“We want to make sure we stay at that low cost so that people can grab something and add this to their weekly routines,” he said.
“The staff are trained to have conversations and bring hope to people who need it.”
The store is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9am to 12.30pm. '
