The rough weather made for another challenging round of the South West Soccer Association’s competitions.
Dalyellup premier men’s team were able to knock off an in-form Busselton United at home with a 2-1 victory.
Football Margaret River hosted the Dynamos but the men’s team was unable to get on the scoreboard and lost 0-4.
It was a tighter match for the Margaret River ladies who lost 2-3.
The Geographe women’s side had a healthy win against Capel, 4-1.
The Geographe men’s won against the Dynamos, 2-0.
Hay Park comtinue to struggle with a loss to Bunbury United, 2-1.
The men’s Manjimup premier team hosted Collie but were unable to win.
The Power gained possession and started the game favourably.
Manjimup took the lead when an ambitious shot from near the halfway line sailed over goalkeeper Leandro Bessa’s outstretched hands.
A few minutes later, Collie won a penalty which was expertly taken by newcomer Mark Tenney.
Tenney then fired in two quick goals to give Collie a 3-1 lead at half time.
Within the first five minutes, Tenney had put away his fourth for the day and put Collie in a comfortable position.
The game ended 4-1 and cemented Collie's place at the top of the ladder.
The Collie Power ladies travelled to Manjimup on a cold rainy day looking for their first win of the season.
Power’s Captain Tahya Magill and Sarah Dalton controlled the midfield until Magill was stretchered off with a knee injury.
Rovers goalkeeper Jodie Miller kept Collie at bay before half-time.
In the second half, Collie’s Kirsten Thomson found enough space to drive a hard low shot into the bottom left corner of the goals.
The Power gained control of the game and were awarded a penalty after the ball struck a Rovers defender’s arm in the box.
Thomson then stepped up and hit the ball with power.
Collie went home with a 2-0 win.
Collie credited the victory to its mix of experience and young, enthusiastic players.
