Playing in this year’s FIFA World Cup would be a dream come true for Bunbury soccer powerhouse Josh Risdon.
Risdon was picked for the Caltex Socceroos’ 32-man preliminary squad, under coach Bert Van Marwijk.
Next week, the squad will be reduced from 32 players to 26. The side will then head to Turkey for a 20-day training camp.
In 2017, Risdon was picked for the World Cup Asian play-off qualifier against Syria.
Risdon played for Perth Glory before making the switch to Western Sydney Wanderers last year.
His journey with the Wanderers has seen him face off against English Premier League heavyweights Arsenal.
The Socceroos’ World Cup campaign launches on June 16 with a Group C clash against France.
The Australian side will then take on Denmark on June 21 and Peru on the 28th.
