Paul Fimmano has resigned as the coach of the Harvey Bulls league side just days after the team’s one-point loss to Augusta-Margaret River last weekend.
The Bulls, who were one of the pre-season favourites to take out the premiership, have had a difficult start to the season and sit ninth on the ladder with just one win in the first four rounds.
Fimmano had been coach of the Bulls since the beginning of 2015, where he led the team to three straight preliminary final appearances.
Fimmano said he had told the club he was resigning on Monday because he didn’t feel he was ‘giving enough’ to the club in between work and life commitments.
Fimmano said star midfielder and captain Brendon Jones would take over as a playing-coach for the remainder of the season.
“Brendon will be great [as the coach]. He has a lot of knowledge and experience,” Fimmano said.
“It will be good for the boys, and especially the younger guys, to learn from him and hear from a different voice.
“I wouldn’t have left the club if I didn’t think it would be in good hands.”
Fimmano said he enjoyed his time as coach and would still be seen around the club, supporting his son, but that he would be enjoying his time off.
