A trip through the South West will make for new experiences and opportunities for Victorian singer-songwriter Nigel Wearne.
The musician, joined by Montgomery Church, will entertain audiences at Ferguson Forest Cottages, Wellington Mill on May 18.
Wearne will deliver his second Good Nights performance on the 19th at Bunbury’s The Warehouse – Good Earth Surf Shop.
Wearne, Church, and headlining act Timothy Nelson will provide folk-y twangs and friendly vibes.
The musician said he eagerly anticipated each new opportunity to perform live.
“I have never been to Bunbury before so I am looking forward to getting over to that part of the world,” he said.
“I have never toured in WA before so I am looking forward to meeting some new faces and playing my music to a new audience.
“I like playing in different spaces. I find by doing that you end up with a listening audience and people can really engage with what you’re doing.”
Wearne regularly tours around Australia and New Zealand.
The singer-songwriter has performed in a variety of settings including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival and Illawarra Folk Festival.
His songs discuss everything from personal stories about his life to social issues and politics.
“I like starting conversations about some of the things I write about, creativity in general etc.,” he said.
“People feel like they get to know you through your music and they get to know a bit more.
“To me, a career in music means being creative. The thing that powers me is the opportunity to write and create things.”
Wearne is a jack of all trades.
When he’s not on stage, the musician/luthier/poet spends his time teaching primary school students on a casual basis.
The musician said he loved keeping his hands busy, being on the road, and going up on stage.
