Carey Park Football Club’s representatives are eager to get more people visiting Kelly Park in the near future.
The club has begun a new campaign to improve facilities at the venue.
Assisted by the Australian Sport Foundation, they have planned to raise $35,000 in tax deductible donations.
The club announced it would use the funds to re-model the kitchen, re-wire electrical circuits, and re-paint the clubhouse exterior.
Carey Park Football Club president Wayne Stewart said they hoped to provide more opportunities for people involved in football and netball.
“The place is 40-years-old so it’s starting to show its wear and tear,” he said.
“Carey Park has been here for a long time and times are tough at the moment. It’s important that we keep it going so more people have a chance to represent the club.
“If you think you can offer your support it will be very much appreciated, and it’ll go to a good cause.”
The Australian Sport Foundation is the only company to offer tax deductions for donations made to sporting organisations.
In 2016-17, the foundation raised over $44.65 million for sport in Australia.
Over $100 million has been raised for clubs and organisations around the country.
Australian Sports Foundation WA sports partnership manager Ashleigh Apps said any club was able to ask the foundation for help.
“Projects can range from playing uniforms to playing and training equipment, travel, club facilities etc.,” she said.
“State and national representative athletes can also fundraise for coaching, medical, equipment and travel expenses.
“In this instance, Carey Park is looking to fundraise to upgrade its clubhouse facilities
“The Carey Park Football Club clubhouse is an important community sports facility and is very worthy of fundraising support from the local community and generous philanthropists.”
The foundation is currently helping 14 clubs/organisations within the Bunbury and Collie-Preston regions.
