Capel's Riding for the Disabled Association hub has been given a much-needed leg-up.
Riding for the Disabled Association Capel recently received a $1000 grant from P and N Bank, designed to give the group access to electricity for its transportable clubhouse.
The club first opened its doors in 2016 and had purchased the transportable clubhouse building from the Bunbury Sailing Club.
Club president and coach Carol Brice said the donation would help them expand their operations.
“One of the responsibilities is to provide a nice, safe, and comfortable area for our volunteers and clients,” she said.
“Having a clubhouse means we can provide morning and afternoon tea, hot drinks during winter time, and a warm area.
“This goes towards providing good facilities to our clients.”
P and N Bunbury branch manager Donna Gibbs said the company provided assistance to community groups and organisations.
“The Riding Develops Ability centre in Capel provides a wonderful service to people with disabilities through the south west, with riders coming from Manjimup and Donnybrook and between Australind to Dunsborough,” she said.
“At the moment they operate three times a week, but I understand the demand is so great that with continued support they have the potential to operate five times a week.”
RDA Capel provides equestrian activities for people with disabilities or mental health issues.
