Former Bandidos gang member Jacques Teamo has been hospitalised after being bashed while in a high-security Queensland jail on an assault charge.
The notorious 48-year-old bikie was involved in an altercation with "a number" of fellow Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre prisoners on Monday morning, a Queensland Corrective Services spokesman said.
His injuries were deemed severe enough to warrant treatment in hospital.
Teamo was charged after allegedly punching a 29-year-old man in the face and threatening to stab him at the Gold Coast's Pacific Fair shopping centre on May 4.
He was also charged with unlawful possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a drug utensil following a subsequent search of his Robina home.
He appeared in Southport Magistrates Court earlier this month.
Teamo is expected to apply for bail at a hearing in the same court in June.
