Hip hop duo Spit Syndicate are keen to share their ‘best work ever’ with South West audiences this week.
Hailing from Sydney’s Inner West, Spit Syndicate aren’t new to the scene. Their fresh release, Orbit, is their fifth studio album.
Spit Syndicate’s Nick Lupi and Jimmy Nice met in high school and formed a rap group. Soon, they were billed as up-and-comers and ones to watch.
Their debut album, Towards The Light, was released in 2008 when the pair were barely out of their teens.
It earned them an ARIA nomination for Best Urban Release, and the promise of big things to come.
Fast forward to May 2018, when they’ve dropped their latest record.
Spit Syndicate described Orbit as their most confident and forward thinking record yet.
“Our approach to making this album was like a mix tape,” Nice said.
“We weren’t thinking about singles, radio or even how we’d be releasing the music.
“That allowed us to be weightless, almost childlike in our approach.
“We arrived back at the essence of why we started creating songs.”
Lupi agreed with his partner in crime.
“Orbit is, without question, our best work yet and it’s the most fun we’ve ever had making a record,” he said.
Spit Syndicate will perform at The Prince of Wales Hotel, Bunbury on Thursday, May 31, and Settlers Tavern, Margaret River, on Friday, June 1. Tickets are available from Oztix.
