WA’s Minister for Education Sue Ellery visited Bunbury last week to hear from teachers and spend time with students. Ms Ellery said the education forum was organised to give her the opportunity to hear firsthand from the community.
“Some of the topics raised at the forum included highlighting teaching as a valuable career option, ensuring parents are supported to be actively engaged at school and ensuring we continue to have quality teachers in critical areas like maths and science,” she said.
During her time in Bunbury Ms Ellery visited schools with Bunbury MLA Don Punch.
Maidens Park Primary School principal Helen Foan said teachers had the opportunity to explain to the minister how the school catered for individual learning and the well being of students.
Dalyellup College principal Jamie Senbergs said students spoke to the minister about how the college operated with Ms Ellery observing a Year 7 English class.
Bunbury MLA Don Punch who organised the public forum said it had gone really well.
