Some of Australind’s tinniest tennis fan received their very own rackets last week as part of an initiative to encourage children to learn the sport.
Australind Primary School’s pre-primary were very excited to be given their shiny new rackets on Thursday.
ANZ Tennis Hot Shots together with Tennis Australia’s School Partnership Program aim to encourage more children to pick up a racquet and learn tennis as part of their health and physical education curriculum.
Pre-primary teacher Cath Billi said the students would be starting tennis lessons in Year 2.
“All the gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination – we’re very happy and the kids are very excited,” she said.
Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said he looked forward to seeing more racquets in the hands of Australian children.
“This ongoing initiative shows our continued joint commitment with ANZ to increasing tennis participation and ensuring kids are active at school,” he said.
