The South West Development Commission recently welcomed Carly Anderson to their team as the principal local content advisor.
Based in the Bunbury office but working across the region, Ms Anderson will focus on connecting industry to government procurement opportunities with the aim of increasing the portion of State Government and industry contracts secured by regional contractors and businesses.
“I have worked in procurement, government contracting and advising on the Buy Local policy for the WA Government for 14 years, 12 of these in the South West and Great Southern regions,” she said.
“My husband and I also run a South West-based small business.
“I understand well the highs and lows of running a business, as well as the benefits that can be generated for government, industry and the local economy through local content initiatives.
“I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to work with South West Development Commission, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and businesses to help deliver positive outcomes for our region.”
The new principal local content advisor position at the South West Development Commission is part of the State Government’s commitment to maximise tender and job opportunities in the regions.
A recent South West Development Commission initiative designed to connect local businesses with project opportunities was held last month to give locals the opportunity to network with key contacts for the proposed Albemarle Kemerton Plant.
