South Bunbury falls to Busselton in SWNFL 2018 round nine

Aided by Maia Bratton and Emma Borinelli up forward, the Magpies hit the lead from the opening whistle and never wavered. 

Busselton then went from a six point quarter-time lead to a 24-point margin at the main break. 

Their contingent of promising up-and-comers and Souwest Jets’ players helped around the court. 

After extending its lead to 35 by three-quarter time, Busselton piled on 22 points in the final term. 

The Magpies’ 76 to 25 victory in round nine placed them one win below the Bunbury Bulldogs on the leaderboard. 

Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault remains second following its 48 to 34 win over Augusta-Margaret River. 

Meanwhile, Eaton was knocked out of the top four by league leaders Carey Park. 

The Panthers are two wins clear at the top of the ladder following their crushing 56 to 28 win at the South West Sports Centre. 

Next Saturday, the Tigers clash with Carey Park while Eaton faces off against Bunbury. 

The Lions and Hawks will clash for the second time in two weeks, before Eaton plays its second game in round 10 against Busselton. 

On Friday night, the ECU Souwest Jets went to Perth for their West Australian Netball League – Round Two clash against West Coast Warriors.

The Jets went shot-for-shot with the reigning premiers throughout the first quarter. 

Jets’ Wing Attack, and West Coast Fever Academy player, Jess Repacholi fought to assist Bratton and Giselle Taylor up forward. 

The lead switched between the Warriors and Jets in the second term, making for an enthralling quarter of netball. 

Putting pressure on the Jets, the Warriors gained a two point lead at the main break. 

The visitors fell behind in the third quarter, as the Warriors continually found free players and created opportunities. 

Warriors’ fans celebrated as the team held on for a 43 to 37 victory over the Jets. 

The Jets will be looking to prove themselves in their round three showdown with Perth Lions this Friday.
