An organisation that supports young people and their mental health have expanded its services by relocating.
The team at headspace Bunbury spent the weekend relocating to their new building on Spencer Street, which includes six more rooms for one on one counselling sessions.
Centre manager Marie Eckersley said the move had come about because they needed a more suitable and appropriate building to keep meeting centre needs.
“We’ve been struggling with space for pretty much the last four years and mostly in the last 18 months, since I’ve been in this position, we’ve noticed a huge peak in our demand so we’ve always needed more space,” she said.
“We’re really excited and this will allow us to expand the services and have more allied health on board to help meet the demand that is out there.
“We’re also looking at being able provide more one on one clincial support for our young people as well.”
Ms Eckersley said the Bunbury organisation was now receiving three times the amount of referrals compared with four years ago.
“From my perspective as the centre manager here, is making sure that we have the most efficient and effective service,” she said.
