An extended cycleway network, wider road and improved access will see Koombana Drive transformed from the northern roundabout near the Dolphin Discovery Centre to the Koombana Bridge.
The main road into the Bunbury CBD will be widened and resealed allowing for a smoother and safer passage into town.
Kerbing and island replacement will also form part of the upgrades to Koombana Drive, as well as a dedicated right-hand turn into Lyons Cove.
City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said these improvements were just another way the city was working hard to ensure the entrance into Bunbury’s CBD was of the highest standard.
“We want our entry points to Bunbury to be welcoming and inviting for our residents, tourists and visitors to our city,” he said.
“By extending the cycle lanes our cyclists can feel safer on the road into town and motorists will also benefit from the upgrades.”
“These works will go along away in enhancing what is already considered an award-winning precinct.”
Access to Koombana Foreshore and Lyons Cove will remain open to minimise disruption to motorists with traffic management in place for the duration of the works.
Works will begin on July 23 for about six weeks.
