Queenslanders have woken to a chilly morning on Saturday with overnight temperatures plunging well below July averages.
Cold air pushed north by a high pressure system caused frosty temperatures throughout the state's southern half.
Wellcamp Airport, just west of Toowoomba, recorded the state's coldest temperature with a low of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius at 6.42am.
Nearby Oakey recorded a low of minus 6.3C just before 7am.
The cold weather pushed well up into Queensland with the outback town of Blackall dropping to 1.2C while Lochington, near Emerald, was just 0.5C at 7.11am.
Even Rockhampton, up on the state's central coast, dropped to a low of 6.5C just before 7am.
The Darling Downs and the Granite Belt were the coldest regions of the state generally, with Dalby, Applethorpe and Miles all well below freezing.
Roma, west of Brisbane, was also down to a chilly minus 4.2C overnight.
Brisbane recorded a low of 6.7C while Brisbane airport's low was 4.9C at 6.40am.
Coolangatta on the southern end of the Gold Coast dropped to 3.7C while Sunshine Coast airport also went below 5C with a low of 4.9C.
Daytime temperatures are expected to be stable around 20C throughout the south-east but the bureau expects cold overnight temperatures to persist until early next week.
"It's going to be fairly similar tonight," Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Jonti Hall told AAP.
"Probably most places not quite as cold but it's going to be still well below the average and pretty similar."
King tides are also set to hit Brisbane with a peak of 2.74 metres expected at 10.52pm on Saturday.
Brisbane City Council is warning minor localised flooding could be experienced in bayside, riverside and low-lying nearby suburbs.
Council is warning residents in those areas to avoid parking their cars on the street during the high tides.
The tide peak is predicted to be a slightly lower 2.68m on Sunday night.
