In superhero-action-caper flick Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) is stuck under house arrest following his involvement in the events of Captain America: Civil War.
Broken out by love interest/fellow crime-fighter Hope van Dyne/Wasp (Evangeline Lily) and super-inventor Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Scott is given a new mission to conquer and new villains to fight.
Like the 2015 original, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the Marvel Cinematic Universe at its most fancy-free and joyous.
The cast remains solid, while the action sequences and shrink-grow visual effects are second to none.
The movie’s assortment of colourful supporting characters also works tremendously.
Lang’s journey is compelling, but many of the movie’s sub-plots aren’t particularly interesting.
Overall, the 20th MCU instalment is enjoyable, easy-going, but disposable.
Don’t expect anything as accomplished or interesting as Black Panther here.
