A man involved in a road rage incident close to Forrest Highway has been fined $3000 for his actions.
The 36-year-old man faced Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 12 charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
Police prosecutor senior constable Karl Rep told the court the 36-year-old was a passenger in one car involved in an incident with another vehicle on Raymond Road on May 2.
After both cars stopped near Forrest Highway, the drivers left their vehicles and walked towards one another.
The 36-year-old then came up behind the driver of the other vehicle and punched him twice in the face.
Both men then became involved in a scuffle, drawing attention from members of the public.
The victim then found the 36-year-old’s phone on the ground and later handed it in to police.
The 36-year-old’s lawyer said his client was typically a man of good character, and had been impacted by alcohol and grief at the time.
Magistrate Brian Mahon discussed the serious of road rage incidents and one-punch attacks.
The 36-year-old was given a spent conviction, along with court costs of $100.
