Four Bunbury Junior Bulls athletes were recently given a golden opportunity to showcase their determination, skills, and hard work.
Francois Nell (13), Kodie Nepia (15), Issac Harmer (15), and Putu Huriwai-Brown (16) were picked for the 2018 Rugby Western Australia – South of the River teams.
The South of the River sides went through training on July 2, with the four Bunbury players learning to bond with athletes from other clubs in the state.
The teams then went up against the North of the River line-ups on July 9, 12, and 15, wowing fans and Rugby WA officials.
Earlier this year, the boys conquered three trial sessions, and competed against players from around the state, before being selected.
Bunbury Junior Bulls Under 14/15/16 coach Ian Banwell saluted the four for their commendable sportsmanship and efforts during the games.
“A lot of kids need a lift-up in life...I am hoping the kids will now continue with it a bit further,” he said.
Mr Banwell thanked all of the players and parents/guardians involved.
The Bunbury Junior Bulls’ U14/15/16 team previously played locally, before deciding to take on teams from around Perth.
Mr Banwell noted the team, over the past couple of years, has drastically improved and has found many enthusiastic players.
