The National Broadband Network has taken another huge step in assisting residents and businesses across the South West.
Brunswick has officially gained access to fibre to the node NBN technology, with residents now eligible to switch over via service providers.
According to the NBN, at least 90 per cent of the fixed-line footprint will be able to access wholesale download speeds of 50 megabites per second.
The NBN also announced they will replace phone and internet services for more than 1300 homes and businesses in Harvey next month.
In addition, more than 6,000 homes and business in parts of Australind, Leschenault, Parkfield, and Roelands will have their existing landline phone and internet systems changed over between November 2018 and January 2019.
Between July 2018 and January 2019, more than 29,000 homes and business will have their existing landline phone and internet services replaced by the NBN.
Head of NBN local – Western Australia Rachael McIntyre said the switch over was not automatic.
“To continue using your landline and internet services, you’ll need to contact your preferred phone and internet provider to place an order,” she said.
“Residents should contact their preferred phone and internet provider to discuss their internet usage and determine a package that suits their needs.
“For the first time local residents also have a choice of speeds when selecting a broadband package – people should ask their phone and internet provider about the actual speeds they can expect to experience when they switch to a plan over the NBN access network, particularly during peak times.
“You should also visit the NBN website to register devices such as medical alarms and lift phones, and find out more about business devices and services.”
