After 30 years of establishing its family friendly brand within the community, Archers and Sons Funeral Home will be moving into a new phase.
The family run business has announced InvoCare Funeral Homes will take over the company.
However, this does not mean major change for the business and its staff.
Founding member Derek Archer said management made sure it would be ‘business as usual’ once the acquisition occurred.
“InvoCare made it clear that the brand won’t be touched and the family will remain in the business for at least six months,” Mr Archer said.
“We will always be ambassadors for the business.”
Mr Archer said discussions began after it was clear the business did not have a succession plan so what InvoCare offered was a ‘win win’.
“We have been doing this for 30 years and it has been like a child to us and it was important we maintained that – particularly for our committed and like minded staff,” he said.
Invocare general manager for WA and SA Mark Armitage said the community won’t see any name or staff changes because of how well entrenched the brand was in the region.
“Archers has done a marvelous job and have a great relationship with the community,” he said.
“The Archer family should be proud of what they have done and it is a testiment that we wanted to be part of their business.”
InvoCare has 270 sites across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
”Manjimup and Bunbury sites gives us a good starting point and we want to look at expanding to other towns in the South West,” Mr Armitage said.
