Students from Taekwondo West Eaton club competed in Perth at the Sports Taekwondo Western Australia 2018 State Championships on July 21 and 22.
The group took up the challenge with the hope of being selected to represent Western Australia at the National Taekwondo Championships in Bendigo, Victoria in September.
All eight competitors showed outstanding sportsmanship and gave their very best during the tournament.
Coming away with 10 gold medals, six silver, two bronze, and five state titles made for a very successful event.
Senior team member Annette Buss (head instructor and Poomsae coach) took home one gold and one silver.
Steve Spouse and Justin Reynolds claimed one gold each.
Junior team member Nayte Wright was the proud recipient of two gold and one silver.
Koby McLaren took out one gold and two silvers, Brayden Matheson nabbed two gold and one bronze, Aiden McLaren scored one gold and one bronze, while Ella Matheson earned one gold and one silver.
Special thanks to Kim Walter and Reynolds for coaching the sparring, and Steve Spouse for representing the club by judging and refereeing at the tournament.
In preparing for the national championships, the team will attend extra training sessions in Perth with other state team players over the next few weeks.
