The victim of a drug robbery on the Gold Coast during which a sleeping man was shot in the face has labelled her attackers "narcissistic energy vampires".
Daniel James Long, 24, has been handed a seven-year jail sentence after he armed himself with a sawn-off rifle and broke into the Ashmore home in January 2017.
Having previously bought drugs there, he and co-accused Ricky Eastman told the female occupant, "you're getting robbed, babe" and they were "there for the gear".
Long shot the male occupant while he was asleep in bed, leaving him with long-term injuries including 22 per cent vision loss and a depressed eye socket.
The crime was described as "callous and cowardly" by Justice Ann Lyons in Brisbane Supreme Court on Friday, noting the woman no longer feels safe in her home.
"It's not my path to live in this constant drama-driven, drug-fuelled cesspit of narcissistic energy vampires who are only out for themselves, to live in a world of expectation, jealousy, hatred, violence and darkness," the woman said in her victim impact statement.
Long was given a non-parole period of two years and two months after pleading guilty to malicious act of intent and burglary charges in Brisbane Supreme Court this week.
Eastman received a three-year sentence but was granted immediate parole and released on Friday after Justice Lyons accepted he had otherwise good character.
