The South West Strikers are still in contention to claim the 2018 Promotion One Women’s championship crown.
Sitting just behind YMCC Hockey Club and Southern River, they remain third on the ladder with nine wins, five draws, and one loss.
The Strikers nabbed a 2-1 win in their round 17 clash against Whitford in Collie, with Allyce Sewell and Alyssa Davidson hitting the back of the net.
The Strikers were in top form in round 16, scoring a 6-2 victory over Old Guildfordians Mundaring Hockey Club.
Maddie Fenwick clinched two goals for the Strikers, while Eaton’s Bronte Price, Harvey’s Georgina Dowd, Pia Kirk, and Belle Ramshaw scored one each.
Following a narrow 3-2 loss to Southern River, the Strikers dominated Rockingham and ran away with a 4-1 win in round 15.
The Strikers kept the majority of play within their half, while simultaneously shutting down Rockingham’s attackers.
Up 3-1 at the main break, the home side slotted one more in the second half.
Bunbury’s Meg Read, Aliyce Soule, Kirk, and Dowd scored one goal each.
Before being held to a 1-1 draw by Fremantle in round 13, the Strikers destroyed Old Guildfordians Mundaring Hockey Club 6-0 in round 12.
The Strikers raced out to a 5-0 lead by half time, and slotted one more between the posts in the second.
Strikers Emily Antonovich, Charlotte Massey, Kirk, Fenwick, and Dowd hit the scoreboard during the game.
The team performed valiantly against Fremantle (1-1) and YMCC Hockey Club (2-2) in rounds nine and 10 respectively.
The Strikers felt confident after their 4-1 win against Whitford in round eight.
Having gone 3-0 up by half time, the Strikers scored one more in the second before claiming victory.
The Strikers had excelled against Southern River (3-3) in round six and Old Guildfordians Mundaring Hockey Club (7-0) one week later.
In April, they achieved a 6-1 win over Fremantle and a 5-0 decimation of Rockingham.
Previously, the Strikers had kicked off their 2018 season campaign with a 1-0 win over Whitford in round one and a 1-1 draw with YMCC in round three.
The Strikers will take a well-deserved break this weekend, before taking on league leaders YMCC at Lemnos Field, Shenton on August 18.
The side will gain a home turf advantage later this month, going up against Southern River in round 20 and Rockingham in round 21 at Bunbury Hockey Stadium.
