Collie will have the chance to show its strength this Friday, with the arm wrestling coming to town.
The Club Hotel will play host to a South West amateur arm wrestling competition from 7.30pm on Friday, August 17.
Amateur arm wrestlers will be able to compete in two weight divisions – over and under 90 kilograms – for both right and left handers. There will also be an open division for right handed women.
Bunbury’s state and national champion Ryan ‘The Milkman’ Scott said he was expecting about 30 competitors of varying experience levels to compete.
“It’s an amateur only event, which means no one can compete if they’ve won a state or national title,” he said.
“Some of the people entering have been training anywhere from one week up to two years. Most of the competitors are entering their first tournament.”
Scott said it was the first time he was bringing the competition to Collie after having success with it in Bunbury.
He said he hoped the event would get more people interested in taking up the sport.
The event will also serve as a qualifier for the WA state title event in Baldivis on October 20.
Anyone over 18 can compete by registering before 6pm on the night or calling Ryan on 0411 587 769.
