Best selling WA author Fiona Palmer will be visiting Bunbury next month celebrating the release of her most recent work – Sisters and Brothers.
Based in the tiny rural community of Pingaring, 350km from Perth, Palmer said she was looking forward to the visit where she will sign books and chat with fans.
“Anyone can come and ask me questions about the books and the writing process – it’s always nice to meet the fans, so to come to these is great,” she said.
“I’m a bit anxious about the release of Sisters and Brothers– you never know if everyone is going to like it, you just have your fingers and toes crossed and hope that everyone enjoys the story and gets something out of it.”
Taking inspiration from her own grandfather who was adopted for her latest story, Palmer said it was his story that made her think about other people’s views.
Palmer admits to never having ambitions of being a writer but had a story stuck in her that she had to get out.
“I started to write it down just so I could get it out of my head – I was busy, I had children and before I knew it I had this story and everyone said it was great and for me to try and get it published,” she said.
“I left school early and English was my worst subject but I enjoy creating new worlds and getting to know my characters, they become friends.”
Palmer will be available to sign copies of Sisters and Brothers on September 12, at Big W from 4pm before her sold-out event at Sala.
