In the first week of the finals series, Bunbury was given a major scare by South Bunbury in their enthralling showdown.
Going head-to-head on Sunday, the Bulldogs’ crowd at Payne Park fell silent as the Tigers went up by 19 points in the first term.
Ella Smith kicked two goals and Claudia Elward slotted one in an explosive first quarter.
The Bulldogs then kept the visitors goalless throughout the remaining three terms.
Goals to Shanice and Casara Hill shrunk South Bunbury’s margin to five points at the main break.
Shanice Hill’s second goal then put the Bulldogs in front right before three-quarter time.
The final minute of the fourth term saw one last attempt from Ella Smith get knocked behind.
In a low-scoring final quarter, Bunbury held out to nab a 3.7.25 to 3.4.22 victory.
The Bulldogs next play in the grand final on September 23, after South Bunbury faces Harvey in next weekend’s blockbuster preliminary final.
Playing against Carey Park at Hands Oval, the Bulls kicked three unanswered goals in the first half and gave their club some hope of picking up silverware in 2018.
Harvey was simply too good, winning 5.2.32 to 1.3.9 and booting Carey Park from the competition.
Shanaya Dorizzi starred for the Panthers with one fourth quarter goal.
