Bunbury and Districts Badminton Association has thanked its members, the South West Sports Centre, and the City of Bunbury for helping with another stellar South West Open event.
The annual tournament sees junior and senior badminton players of varying skill levels travel to Bunbury to compete in the club’s Hay Park headquarters.
Held between Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2, this year’s event hosted over 120 entrants as well as several exciting clashes.
Bunbury and Districts Badminton Association president Nigel Smith was pleased that the sport had gained such a significant following in Western Australia.
“We had a record year for entries this time, in terms of athletes from Bunbury and from around the state,” he said.
“A lot of that, I think, is due to some of the renovations we have done in the past 18 months, the most important of which involve the badminton courts.
"These courts have attracted a lot of people to the event this year.”
