A delegation of 20 high school students from Setagaya, Japan, arrived in Bunbury last week. The educational exchange program will see them spend a week at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School.
The annual program began in 2017 with Bunbury’s Sister City Setagaya, Japan and Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School and provides students from both countries with the opportunity to learn more about culture and language.
Head of School Michael Giles thanked City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan and Carol McDowell for making cultural exchange opportunities available in the South West.
“The School has a long history of engagement with Japan,” he said.
“Our partnership with the City of Setagaya offers students the opportunity to attend school alongside their host student and immerse themselves in Japanese culture.
“This valued partnership has a respectful family-like quality.”
Students will participate in classes and explore the South West.
