Hair, nails, letterboxes, gardens and even buildings are turning pink for a worthy cause.
The Shire of Capel with the help of the community are turning the town pink this October in support of the McGrath Foundation and to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The aim of the nation-wide initiative is to help raise funds for the foundation to help them place McGrath Breast Care Nurses wherever they are needed the most.
Shire of Capel community development officer Donna Sims said it was great to see so many local businesses and community groups jumping on board to support the initiative.
“This is a great way to support the McGrath Foundation and to get the community involved in a cause so close to so many people’s hearts,” she said.
A number of events will be held across the month of October in Capel to raise both funds and awareness.
The Capel Golden Oldies are hosting a fundraising dinner at the Capel Country Club on October 19 from 6pm.
Golden Oldies member Heather Scott said they were all looking forward to the upcoming events.
“We’ve had a wonderful response from the community,” she said.
“We’re really embracing it.
“The senior citizens have also come on board and are doing a raffle.”
Global Diagnostics are hosting a Pamper Me Pink evening at the Capel Golf Club for medical receptionists on October 9 at 6pm.
Shire of Capel staff will also get into the swing of things with a pink morning tea on October 19, with pink themed refreshments.
The Shire is also currently organising a fundraising calendar, which will feature photos of men from local businesses and the community dressed in pink and will be sold during the month of October.
Capel Pharmacy, Bellachay Gifts, Capelberry Café, Capel IGA, Capel Cellarbrations, Capel Newsagency, Serenity and Colroys Country Kitchen have come on board and will be pinking-up there businesses and will have donation tins for the month of October.
