Desperate AFL footy fans are being warned not to fall for ticket scalpers wanting to cash in.
Two tickets to the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne Football Club blockbuster match on Saturday have been advertised online for $6500, with the seller in Western Australia.
But it gets worse: two tickets to the Collingwood and Richmond game at the MCG on Friday had more than $23,000 in bids online, Nine Network in Melbourne reported.
It is illegal to advertise tickets to a declared major event for more than 10 per cent above the face value in Victoria but the same does not apply in WA.
The Victorian government is working with eBay and Gumtree to pull down any listing selling tickets to this year's finals series' Victorian games under the anti-scalping legislation.
"I want to remind fans that they should only ever buy tickets from official ticket websites and suppliers. Tickets purchased from third party websites may not be genuine and there is no guarantee those tickets will get you into the game," a government spokesman said.
Almost 100 people are under investigation for scalping AFL finals tickets in Victoria.
