Derek Hall has made the tough decision to resign as coach of the Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault Lions’ league side.
Mr Hall informed the club’s board last month, with the coach choosing to spend more time with his wife and their three children.
He said he had toyed with the decision throughout the 2018 South West Football League season.
“I’ve got a 13-year-old, an 11-year-old, and an 8-year-old and they’re very active in the winter months with their sport,” he said.
“My wife has done an enormous amount of work over the last couple of years. It’s time for me to dip in and help out there.
“As much as I love HBL, and have loved being back there and being involved in the club for the past two years, family comes first.”
Highlights for Hall during his tenure as league coach include qualifying for the 2017 grand final as well as helping to develop several young players into club champions.
“We managed to go less with the travelling players this year,” he said.
“We really wanted to concentrate on our youth and the population of the area.
“There were some young local blokes this year who, going forward, will be really great for the club.
“There are a lot of quality youngsters around and, given the opportunity, I’m sure they won’t let the next coach down.”
Mr Hall has ruled out the possibly of coaching a different league side in 2019.
He said he was looking forward to watching next year’s games alongside family and friends.
The Lions’ board has already begun its campaign to find a new league coach.
