With input from all eight coaches, the Bunbury Mail has pooled together the best of the best from the 2018 South West Football League women's competition.
Bunbury Bulldogs Kristy Larsen and Casara Hill join Carey Park’s Nadia Davis on the forward line.
Hill was a standout forward throughout the season and earned the 2018 women’s leading goal-scorer award with 38 majors from 18 rounds.
Larsen kicked a plethora of goals and set up many opportunities for her teammates during the season, while Davis finished second on the leading goal-scorers’ ladder with 27.
Joining Harvey Bulls’ players Harmony Staszewski-Hose and Michelle Mullens on the half-forward line is South Bunbury powerhouse and two-time State Under 18s player Ella Smith.
Coming second in the 2018 Nola Marino Medal count, Smith’s extraordinary efforts in this year’s competition were well-and-truly acknowledged.
The centre line is taken up by a collection of fast, relentless players.
South Bunbury midfielder Ebony Bilcich picked up an overwhelming 61 best on ground points during the regular season.
Bulldog Kloe Bassett collected 58 and Busselton Magpies’ player Chloe Wain acquired 34.
Eaton Boomer Jessica Ruland and Busselton’s Angela Williamson are part of the Women’s Football All Stars’ half-back line.
Fellow half-back Rebecca Fry (Harvey Bulls) is also All Stars’ vice-captain.
Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault’s Emily Reilly, Collie Eagles’ player Rachael Shepherd, and Tiger Kiarni Stevens together create an impenetrable backline.
Lion Brittany Gliddon, Carey Park’s Karinda Farrant, and 2018 Nola Marino Medal recipient Carly Allen are the side’s followers.
Allen’s stellar season – including 33 best on ground points from 16 games – earned her the role of All Stars’ captain.
Chantelle Fontana (Collie), Aimee Harris (Eaton), Kandice Hart (Carey Park), and Rennie Sansom (Busselton) make up the interchange bench.
Bunbury’s Sean Creasey and Harvey Bulls’ Bernie Murnane are our picks for coaches, having led their sides to the 2018 grand final.
The 2018 women’s competition saw the Bulldogs collect their second consecutive premiership with a 5.3.33 to 3.6.24 win over Harvey.
South Bunbury and Carey Park also made it through to this year’s finals series.
Busselton and Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault placed fifth and seventh respectively.
Making their debuts in 2018, Collie and Eaton drew large fan-bases and put the fight to their competition.
