Following the acquisition of new team driver Kerry Madsen in July, Krikke Motorsport has confirmed that Madsen has officially been contracted to the 2018-19 World Series Sprintcars Championship season for the first time in his 28-year Sprintcar career.
Making his WSS Championship debut on the road, but not as a contacted driver, in the 1998-99 season, placing seventh overall, the current and four-time Australian champion has since contested numerous WSS Championships.
The addition of Kerry as a contracted driver for the first time since the inception of the World Series Championship is certainly a huge coup, not only for the championship itself, but also for the fans.

With the Bunbury-based team having been contracted to the championship for 19 consecutive seasons, since making their debut with American driver and nine-time World of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz in 1999, team manager Ryan Krikke is thrilled that their tradition is set to continue with Madsen.
“The World Series Sprintcar Championship is something that we’ve been committed to for a very long time,” he said.
“When we signed Kerry as our driver, we were unsure if the championship would be possible, due to potential clashes in the schedules, but thankfully it’s all worked out perfectly.
“The addition of Kerry as a contracted driver for the first time since the inception of the World Series Championship is certainly a huge coup, not only for the championship itself, but also for the fans.
“Our final season schedule hasn’t quite been confirmed yet, but the championship is obviously a massive part of it and I’m pleased that Krikke Motorsport is able to continue supporting it.”
Madsen, who is not only considered one of Australia’s best drivers but also one of the elites in the American racing circuit, was quick to echo Krikke’s sentiments.
“I’m excited about participating in World Series for the first time as a contracted driver, and this season’s schedule is condensed which works in well with my American racing commitments,” he said.
“It’s great to be a part of one of Australia’s most renowned Sprintcar teams and continue their World Series tradition, and I’m looking forward to hitting the road with them as we chase success.”
A full season schedule and list of 2018-19 season sponsors, along with the team’s new range of merchandise, will be released shortly.
