The Shire of Dardanup recently announced that volunteers will soon begin a major clean-up of Ferguson Valley’s Gnomesville.
Work will include repair and reinstatement of the boundary fencing following a survey of the area and identification of trees that require pruning or removal in the interests of public safety.
The project will also involve removing injured gnomes and relocating gnomes that have been attached to trees and plants.
Shire president Mick Bennett said it would be the first Spring clean the area had been given in a while and would help to make it more of a tourist destination.
“It’s a unique site but it needs a tidy up,” he said.
“We don’t want to upset anyone, we just want to make it better.”
Mr Bennett encouraged those who were particularly fond of their gnomes to collect them prior to October 30, when work is scheduled to commence and said they were more than welcome to bring them back once the clean up was finished.
