Schools across the South West are set to receive major upgrades to better accommodate hands-on, high-quality science lessons with existing classrooms to be transformed into laboratories.
Adam Road, Boyanup, Bunbury, Capel, Dardanup, Busselton and Clifton Park Primary School’s were selected in the second round of the state government funding with each one to receive $25,000 for laboratory equipment and resources.
Bunbury Primary School science specialist Katrina Taaffe said the money would go towards write on tables, stereoscopes and iPad’s for science.
“I think it will make the students more enthused because it’s placing more importance on the subject,” she said.
“This is a shared space so it would be great to make it look more like a science classroom.”
Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery said dedicated resources enabled schools to give students a feel for the world of science from a young age.
