Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School was rewarded for its water saving inititiatives last week when it was named waterwise by the Water Corporation.
Students undertook a variety of initiatives to complement the Waterwise Schools Program, including investigating the winter creek that drains on the property, studying the life-cycle of frogs and water samples.
Head of Primary Robert Whirledge said the program promoted the conservation of water but also brought about greater awareness of the need to protect waterways.
“Not only did this program promote the conservation of water at our School, it also brought about a greater awareness of the need to protect our waterways and oceans,” he said.
“It was one thing for the students to learn about the water cycle and the uses of water in our world, but the true learning was demonstrated when they then took responsibility for their own use of water and encouraged their families to do the same.”
