Shoppers will be reminded to Choose Respect for the community and the environment with new reusable bags set to be handed out in Bunbury.
Choose Respect Bunbury team member Leanne Maher said the average reusable bag had a lifespan equal to more than 700 disposable plastic bags, and the calico Choose Respect bags were easily washable for hygiene purposes.
"We are so excited to be able to distribute these bags in the local community because they are a visual reminder of what Choose Respect is all about, as well as being totally practical and environmentally-friendly," she said.
"So you can grab your shopping and at the same time it's a reminder to Choose Respect - for yourself, retail staff, the local community and the environment."
The bags were made possible by a sponsorship from QUBE Ports and Bulk.
Qube South West Operations Manager Glenn Gibson said the community was one of the targets high on the company’s ethos and prided themselves on supporting local charities and events.
“Choosing respect is one of the most important virtues, not only for children, but something for the whole community to think about,” he said.
“There are a lot of issues in everyday life at the moment and everyone needs to stop and think about respect before making each choice to deal with those issues.”
The bags will be handed out from the Choose Respect marquee at Bunbury’s Relay for Life this weekend at Payne Park.
