All of the glitz, glamour and shine of beautiful dresses and dapper suits will be on display at Dalyellup College later this month.
In a bid to make the school ball season a little bit more affordable for all South West students and families, the Dalyellup College P&C is holding a Pop Up Formal Wear Sale on November 25.
Deputy principal Eloise Kyneur said all the schools and everyone in the community were more than welcome to get involved and come along.
“We have a senior school ball and we recognise a lot of students have a lot pressure to go to a number of different balls and a number of events,” she said.
“Having something like this gives them an opportunity to reuse other items in the community.
“It also reduces waste across the area so we don’t have more fabric and clothes going into landfill and not being worn or used and it also helps local families.”
Event organiser Tanya Price said it was about trying to cut down the overall cost for school balls for families.
“It’s not just for school balls so if you’ve got an event coming up, come down and have a look,” she said.
“People will bring their dresses to the school over three days, they’ll fill out a sellers form, how much they want for the article and then we will take a small handlers fee, which we will add on top.
“We’ll display it all and people will be able to try things on on the day, there will be supervised change rooms.
“If it’s sold the money will be direct deposited into their accounts and if it’s not sold, they’ll be notified.”
Ms Price said a number of stalls would also be set up on the day with ball related businesses coming along to the event with several planning to offer special discounts and demonstrations on the day.
“They will have display’s and promote their business so the students know what is available,” she said.
