A group of Bunbury students have proven they know what they’re doing in the world of F1 racing.
Fifteen Newton Moore Senior High School engineering specialists students recently spent three days in Perth at the F1 in Schools Championships.
The group took home awards for best portfolio, first for outstanding industry collaboration judges recognition of achievement and second overall and will head to the Gold Coast in March for the national championships.
Head of science Lorraine Ellis said she was very proud of the students.
“It’s a huge achievement and we’re very excited – we’ve got a lot to celebrate,” she said.
“The idea is that they have a block, the design engineer has to come up with a drawing, there is a whole lot of regulations they have to go through to produce that.
“Everyone thinks it’s the car and how fast it is but it’s also the graphic design, what the car looks like, team logo, presentation, they have to have a trade booth, collaborate with industry and time manage.”
