Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, will be celebrated in spectacular style this weekend with music, dancing, food, fashion and fire.
The Indian festival, which symbolises the victory of good over evil, has become a popular celebration for the Bunbury community.
Organised by the South West Indian Group, the event will be held on November 17, at the Italian Club.
South West Indian Group president Dr Parthasarathy Ramesh said he was excited about the seventh edition of the Diwali event, with this year’s theme being ‘Glimpses of India’.
“The traditional Hindu festival symbolises happiness, illumination of home and lives of everyone,” he said.
Dr Ramesh said he felt it was a festival of harmony, multiculturalism and wellness.
“There will be Bollywood themed performances from local school children and multicultural families, Bharathanatyam dances, all women led Bhangra, Gujarati Gharba , Zumba, Indian Fashion parade, fire dancers and free dancing for the audience,” he said.
