Tennis Seniors WA, in partnership with Tennis West, has announced the 2020 National Seniors Tennis Championships will be held in the South West, with Busselton and Bunbury’s tennis clubs set to co-host the event.
The 2020 Australian National Seniors Championships will take place from January 5 to 17, 2020.
The Teams Carnival will be held in the first week of the event, with representative teams from interstate and overseas.
The Teams Carnival is a doubles competition for women and men, with age group divisions ranging from 35 to 80+.
The Australian Seniors Championships will follow the Teams Carnival.
This is an ITF Grade A tournament, offering singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events in five-year age brackets from the age of 35.
Over 1000 tennis players and supporters are expected to attend the championships.
The tournament will feature high-quality tennis and a range of social events.
The opportunity for Busselton to host the event came as a result of the closure of the old Busselton Tennis Club and concurrent re-opening of a new site further along the Geographe Bay foreshore.
Over 40 tennis courts will be available, and in use in Busselton throughout the tournament, with a further 25 available at Bunbury Tennis Club during the first week.
Both clubs will be open to visitors and spectators during the event.
Visit the Busselton Tennis Club or Bunbury Tennis Club’s Facebook pages for more information.
