Dunsborough Oilers’ women’s side has had a delightful start to the 2018/19 Bunbury Basketball Association season, nabbing a 26-point win over Tornadoes Red on Friday night.
The round seven clash began with a tight contest between the two sides.
Up by seven points at quarter time, Dunsborough continued its assault against Tornadoes Red in the second term, scoring 27 points to 15.
Tornadoes Red struggled against the Oilers in the second half, with Dunsborough going on to claim a 79 to 53 win.
Beige Harris (28 points, 13 two-pointers), Dana East (22, four three-pointers), and Adele East (13) ran circles around the competition, while Tornadoes Red’s Phoebe Freeman shot 11.
Dunsborough will endure a top-of-the-table clash against Tornadoes Black this Friday.
Tornadoes Black breezed past Aces Sky in a compelling clash.
The league leaders took control late in the first quarter and held a 14-point buffer at the break.
Aces Sky failed to capitalise on its opportunities as Tornadoes Black landed 21 points in the second term.
Aces Sky’s chances at victory slipped away in the third quarter, with Tornadoes Black maintaining a healthy lead throughout the second half.
Tornadoes Black remains undefeated after winning 79 to 49 in round seven.
In the men’s league, Matthew Leary and Jason Smith (24 each) helped Tornadoes Black to secure a decisive win over Aces Sky.
Tornadoes Black led from the opening tip-off and maintained a solid margin during the first half.
Although assisted by Cory Richardson (20) and Luke Deighton (18), Aces Sky was outmatched at every turn.
Tornadoes Black retained second spot after its 92 to 69 victory.
League leaders/premiership favourites Bulls earned a crushing 131 to 72 win over Dunsborough.
As Dunsborough fell behind, Bulls maintained its form and went up by 22 at the main break.
Stars Travis Durnin (35), Paddy Phillips (31), Thomas Harper (24) and Clive Weeden (20) ensured the side’s devastating 59-point win.
Eaton is yet to secure a win after losing 68 to 56 against Aces White.
A strong performance in the second term saw Aces White lead 42 to 19 at half time.
Eaton’s improved form in the second half could not stop Aces White from nabbing a 12-point win.
