Colts remains second on the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association ladder after conquering Leschenault by 38 runs.
Playing at Bunbury Recreation Ground on Saturday, Colts hit the crease determined to claim another four points.
Colts’ inning began on a poor note. Lee Sorfleet (1) and Murray Goodwin (2) were both caught by Leschenault’s Nathan Douch.
The home side was stranded on 3/26 following the dismissal of Jayden Goodwin (also caught by Douch).
Joe Barningham gave his side some hope of victory, knocking 22 runs off 35 balls.
Shortly after Barningham’s spell, the middle order was eviscerated by Leshenault’s bowling line-up.
Leschenault’s James Letchford (2/18 from 10 overs) bowled Cruize Ciallella for nine, before Connor Ipsen was caught by Kurt D’Agostino for 10.
A nice catch from Brendan Stemp sent Colts wicketkeeper Jaysen Miguel back to the clubrooms for a duck.
With Colts on 7/65, Ian Oglesby (21 off 65, three fours) and Josh Topliss (17 off 18) worked to keep the side’s run rate ticking over.
Following Oglesby’s dismissal, the home side was all out for 114.
The Green Caps stood a reasonable chance of reaching Colts’ total.
The dismissal of D’Agostino (trapped lbw by Topliss) troubled the visitors early on.
Fellow opener Tim Dyer had a much better time at the crease, posting 24 off 61 including two fours.
Captain Thomas Buchanan knocked 16 off 36, before top order batsman Jarrad Quinn earned 12 off 49 late in the day.
Led by effective bowling from Barningham (3/21 from 10 overs, two catches) and Ciallella (3/6 from eight overs), Colts ripped through the Green Caps’ middle and lower orders.
Letchford and Scott Langford were both sent packing for a duck, while Stemp, Douch, and Jacob Templeton made one run each.
Colts dodged a bullet in dismissing Leschenault for a measly 76.

The batsman claimed his half century shortly before being stumped by Paul Jones.
Wicketkeeper Christopher Marrow starred for Eaton on the day, knocking 129 not out with 15 fours and two sixes.
Marrow and the other top order batsmen helped Eaton to post an intimidating 3/288 after 50 overs.
Dallyelup Beach’s inning began with several hiccups. Corey Fagan was bowled by Steven Barron (2/30 from seven overs) for a duck.
The visitors were then 2/16 after Barron trapped Rodney Shemeld (eight off 13) lbw.
Dalyellup was thankful for the impeccable batting of opener Justin Woods, knocking 77 off 90.
Despite solid efforts from Ryan Smoker (28 off 29) and Mitchell Boyle (24 off 37), Dalyellup was hampered by Eaton’s bowlers.
Smoker’s dismissal saw Dalyellup all out for 179.
Hay Park clings to a spot in the top four following its win over Marist.
Redbacks captain Jono Whitney (18 off 12) and Graham Yates (48 off 86, including seven fours) frustrated Marist’s bowling line-up.
Top order batsman Steven Florance then slogged an impressive 59no off 127.
Florance watched on as the Redbacks’ middle and lower orders were hurriedly dismissed.
Marist bowler Jordan Stynes claimed a stellar 5/24 from nine overs.
Keen to reach Hay Park’s 9/165, Marist opener Brayden Clarke hit a half century off 68.
Clarke was later bowled by Yates, who went on to post 5/22 from 10 overs.
Dylan Gordon notched up 2/38 from 10 overs, before Grant Milbanke earned 2/14 from five.
The Blues were later toppled for 137 after 38 overs.
Eaton prevails against Capel
Eaton’s second grade side remains hopeful of making the finals following its monstrous 82-run victory over Capel in round seven.
Opening batsman Stuart Clark (58 runs off 87 balls) and middle order batsman Leigh O’Mara (44 off 45, including five fours) put Eaton in a strong position.
While chasing the Beavers’ total of 9/222, Capel’s batting line-up was destroyed by Eaton’s bowlers.
Eaton won the day, dismissing Capel for 140.
After heading to the crease first, Harvey-Benger opener Haydn Jones knocked 51 off 68 against Colts.
Spells from Anton Fimmano (34 off 73) and Aaron Jovanovic (44 off 47) also benefited the side.
Eager to reach Harvey-Benger’s 9/206, Colts Dylan Bairstow (29 off 38) and Blaze Rosinski (35 off 24) made their mark.
Knee-capped by middle and lower order collapses, Colts could only muster 121.
Dalyellup Beach failed to impress with the bat during its clash with Leschenault.
Dismissing Dalyellup for 71, the Green Caps needed just 9.4 overs at the crease to reach their opposition’s total.
Donnybook was dominant in round seven, posting a six-wicket victory over Collie at Roche Park.
