Bunbury MLA Don Punch is encouraging Bunbury residents to make the most of a unique opportunity to engage with council at the City of Bunbury Annual Electors Meeting on December 4, at 6pm.
“The Annual Electors Meeting offers community members a once a year chance to influence the agenda of Council by moving motions for consideration, a privilege reserved at other times for elected members of Council," he said.
“We are fortunate to have a council that encourages public questions and engagement with the community but the opportunities offered by the Annual Electors Meeting go far beyond those available at regular meetings of council.
“I know from my discussions with people that there are many issues impacting on our suburbs that struggle to gain the attention of council during its normal rounds of meetings so the Annual Electors Meeting is a chance to shine a spotlight on those issues.”
Mr Punch said he was regularly approached by community members raising issues that belonged with council including the need for more play equipment, ablution facilities in public places, footpaths and concerns about empty residential properties and bushfire mitigation.
“People should make the most of this opportunity to raise the issues directly with their local government representatives,” he said.
