Krikke Motorsport, and its new driver Kerry ‘Madman’ Madsen, are counting down to the Western Australian 410 Sprintcar Title this Saturday night.
The team is aiming to repeat history at the Perth Motorplex, which will coincide with the John Day Classic.
While the ‘Madman’ is yet to have completed a race meeting with the Bunbury-based team this season, Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke is confident the current and four-time Australian Champion can get the job done.
“Between Kerry, Dylan [Buswell, crew chief] and Ben Griffin, who is a new addition to our crew, I believe that we have what it takes to have one of those seasons, starting with this Saturday night’s WA Title,” he stated.
“We have very lofty expectations, as we do every season, but this season seems slightly different.
“It adds a bit of extra pressure, but it has made me appreciative of the fact that we have Kerry on board and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve.”
“Kerry is one of the world’s leading drivers and naturally has a huge following of fans, which has been evident in our new merchandise sales.”
Keeping with last season’s black, white and red colour scheme, the Maxim machine once again lends itself to the logos of the team’s major sponsors, packing an added punch by virtue of some new design elements.
One of the most talked about topics since the announcement of Krikke Motorsport’s acquisition of Madsen has been whether or not the team will decide to run ‘Aus no.1’ on its car for the duration of the season.
While the launch of its new livery reveals that the team will continue tradition by running its trademark ‘WA no.2’, the team hasn’t disregarded Madsen’s champion status, incorporating the sought-after number into their design.
“We couldn’t be happier with how the car has turned out and we’re excited to get the new season underway,” Krikke said.
“Dylan has been here working all winter and that really shows, he has done an awesome job of putting the cars together and we have never been better prepared.
“Craig Bradley at Skwid Signs continues to raise the bar with his designs and this season he’s excelled once again, taking a slightly more abstract approach and adding some colour contrast with the red.
“One thing we’re particularly happy with is the number. While we respect that Kerry is the current Australian Champion, the ‘WA no.2’ is synonymous with our team and it didn’t feel right not to run it.
“In saying that, we wanted to work the ‘Aus no.1’ into our number somehow and Craig has nailed it.”
