In an entertaining showdown, Marist clinched a two-wicket victory over Colts in round nine.
Colts’ opening batsman Jaysen Miguel was run out by Sam Roots for eight, before Riley Miguel picked up 27 runs off 51 balls.
Following the dismissals of Riley Miguel and top order batsman Murray Goodwin for 14, Colts were stuck on 3/57.
Colts captain Cruize Ciallella was caught for two, while Connor Ipsen was bowled by Jordan Stynes (4/19 from 9.3 overs) for eight.
Marist bowler Brayden Clarke dazzled with 3/29 from 10 overs.
Middle order batsman Joe Barningham provided some relief with 18 off 25. Ian Oglesby posted 11 off 37 before being run out.
Blaze Rosinski was Colts’ star batsman in round nine, knocking 28 not out off 34 including three fours.
After Stynes decimated Colts’ tail order, the reigning premiers were all out for 130.
Early into Marist’s inning, Clarke was dismissed for nine.
The Blues were then 2/15 following the dismissal of Lewis Homden for a duck.
Opener Cole Sawyer (14 off 27) and captain Reece O’Connell (20 off 55) edged their side closer to victory.
Middle order batsmen Mark Steele (36 off 55, five fours) and Kyle Davis (22 off 30, four fours) combined forces to up the run rate.
Despite a lower order collapse, Marist was still able to reach Colts’ total with one over to spare.
In another surprising result, Hay Park picked up a one-wicket win over league leaders Eaton.
Openers Cory Fitt (29 off 28, three fours) and Clayton Caltsounis (24 off 24, also three fours) got Eaton’s inning off to a great start.
After Christopher Marrow slogged 12 off 19, Hay Park gave Eaton a run for its money.
Redback Daniel Sheppard claimed 4/26 from nine overs, dismissing James Hillery, Billy Boucher, Beavers’ captain Clint Hewson, and Justin Prentice with ease.
With Eaton stranded on 6/70, lower order batsman Jake Rudd (18 off 33) worked to get his side back on track.
Hay Park’s Reon Tither (3/27 from 6.3 overs) delighted the home crowd by trapping Rudd lbw.
Tither then dismissed Jarred Edwards for a duck and Cory Backhouse for one without hesitation.
Chasing Eaton’s disappointing total of 92, Hay Park opener Fraser Thompson delivered 36 off 44 (including five fours and a six).
Graham Yates (run out for seven) and Steven Florance (bowled by Hewson for two) added little to Hay Park’s total.
Jono Whitney had fun during his time at the crease, knocking 35no off 47.
Middle and lower order collapses failed to prevent Hay Park from reaching Eaton’s total with 16 overs to go.
The Redbacks remain fourth after nine rounds.
An in-form Leschenault cruised to victory against bottom-placed Dalyellup Beach on Saturday afternoon.
Leschenault openers Kurt D’Agostino (70 off 106, seven fours) and Tim Dyer (63 off 103) teamed up to form an immaculate partnership.
Captain Thomas Buchanan (32 off 21) and Matt Buchanan (23 off 27) were effective at the crease.
Steven Denison later posted a monstrous 67 off 34.
Whilst chasing the Green Caps’ 5/274 total, Dalyellup was outmatched at every turn.
Openers Justin Woods and Daniel Lomax were both quickly dismissed for two.
Mitchell Boyle (24 off 46m four fours) and Corey Fagan (24 off 20), however, were strong under pressure.
Dylan Robinson posted 26 off 39, before Dalyellup’s middle and lower order batsmen were taken down.
Jarrad Quinn (4/31 from 10 overs) assisted in dismissing Dalyellup for 102.
The win saw Leschenault move to third on the ladder.
The competition will take a break for two weeks before returning on Saturday, December 22.
Victory for Colts against Eaton
Colts’ second grade side clinched a resounding five-wicket win over Eaton in round nine.
Aided by a 78-run inning from Mick Rogers, the Beavers went on to post 213.
Colts opener Timothy Stewart slogged 62 off 68 balls, before Lee Sorfleet (39 off 75) and Ryan Risdon (46 off 69) teamed up to form a strong partnership.
Colts reached its target with two overs to spare.
Donnybrook retained top spot with a delightful performance against Marist at Forrest Park North.
Dons’ Middle order batsman Paul Reynolds earned an astonishing 108 runs, including 13 fours.
Following a terrific spell from Philip Welsh (72 off 97), Donnybrook notched up 7/259.
At the end of its 50 overs, Marist posted 9/200.
Collie picked up another four points with a three-wicket win over Dalyellup Beach.
Dalyellup opener Coen Bradshaw made 48 off 61, before Paul Ryan scored a half century off 75.
Chasing Dalyellup’s 158, the Coalminers suffered a top order collapse.
Liam Reuben (56 off 74) and Matthew Tanner (33 off 40) then helped Collie to reach Dalyellup’s total with 15 overs to go.
Harvey-Benger clinched an 18-run win over Leschenault.
With support from Anton Fimmano (55) and Hamish Minton (32), Harvey-Benger made 201.
Rob Marshall (38) and Ben Scott (25) kept Leschenault’s hopes of victory alive.
The visitors fell just short, dismissed for 183 with four balls remaining.
