The 2018/19 Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association women’s competition has seen its fair share of exciting matches.
After the official game was rained out, the Redbacks took down Eaton in a scratch match.
Also in round three, Marist secured a crushing win over Colts at Forrest Park East.
With help from Katie Ernst (27 runs off 26 balls), Bronwyn Walker (33 off 19, including six fours), and Ally Clarke-Dehring (21 off 23), Marist posted a total of 2/175.
Colts player Emily Allen bowled Jescinta Barton for two, before Emily Scott dismissed Marist’s Aimee Couanon for five.
Against the Blues’ impressive bowling line-up, Colts made 8/98.
Colts middle order batswoman Suanne Morgan knocked 22 off 33, including five fours.
Barton made her presence known with 4/10 from four overs, while Ernst took two catches.
The Redbacks hosted their ever first home game in round four against Leschenault.
Eager to claim victory on Hay Park turf, the Redbacks came out with guns blazing.
Following an early wicket, opener Caitlin Maskew made 22 off 45 during her time at the crease.
Inspired by her teammate, Katrina Jones knocked 32 off 29.
Middle order powerhouses Belinda Rowlands (9 off 18) and Karen Robinson (17 off 27) were also effective.
Captain Fiona Florance then stepped up to hit 18 off 16, including four fours.
After the Green Caps claimed their second wicket, Tegan Marley hit 11 off 13.
Effective throughout the inning, Hay Park’s batting line-up made 2/157.
The Green Caps then banded together to post 68 after 30 overs.
Hay Park and Leschenault remain second and fourth on the ladder respectively.
In round four’s other clash, Eaton claimed a six-wicket win over Colts.
Following a top order collapse, Colts stars Cathy Allen (16 off 55) and Emma Norrish (22 off 28) upped the ante.
Jacinta Walton (4/11 from four overs) and Stacey Dorman (2/11 from four overs) then ripped through Colts’ lower order.
Chasing Colts’ total of 8/118, Eaton strived to earn runs and entertain the home crowd.
Jody Kent slogged 26 off 23 including four fours, as fellow opener Holly Toy claimed 21 off 31.
Walton starred with both the ball and bat in round four, posting 14 off 17.
Kristylee Martin and Marine Wood helped Eaton to reach Colts’ total with 12 overs to go.
The women’s sides will return to the field for round five on February 10.
